A drone targeted a generator outside the perimeter of the Barakah nuclear plant in Abu Dhabi without affecting radiation safety.

▁Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi Media Office announced that the competent authorities have dealt with a fire that broke out in a generator located outside the perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, after being targeted by a drone.

According to the statement, the accident did not result in any human injuries, nor did it have any impact on radiation safety levels inside the plant.

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation confirmed that the fire did not affect the safety of the Barakah plant or its operational systems, pointing out that the work of the control and security systems continues in accordance with the approved procedures.

The Barakah Nuclear Power Plant is one of the most prominent energy projects in the region and is a key part of the UAE’s strategy to diversify energy sources and enhance future energy security.
