The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Dr. Nabil Fahmy, affirmed the support of the League for the efforts to prepare the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, stressing the need for the dialogue to be purely Sudanese and to be held mainly in Khartoum or within Sudan, led by the Sudanese and reflecting their aspirations.

Following his meeting with the Sudanese Dialogue Committee at its headquarters in Khartoum on Monday, Fahmy said that building political and community stability requires taking into account the Sudanese identity and the interests of citizens, as well as paving the way for dialogue with agreed arrangements and a clear plan of action that includes specific steps and topics.

He stressed the importance of accommodating the various views, while respecting the Sudanese state, its sovereignty and its institutions, stressing the readiness of the Arab League to provide the required support at specific stages, while preserving the Sudanese nature of the dialogue process.

Ultimately, the dialogue should continue to be a Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue aimed at serving the Sudan and the interests of its people.
