The Government of Sudan condemned, in the strongest terms, the Houthi group’s targeting of Mecca by drone, stressing that the targeting of Mecca and the Holy House of Allah represents a flagrant violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and a very dangerous provocation to the feelings of all Muslims.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a press statement issued on Wednesday that the targeting of Mecca, the kiss of Muslims and the cleanest parts of the world, represents a sinful attack and a violation of the sanctity of Islamic shrines.
The Sudanese government stressed that the sanctity of the two holy shrines and the Holy Sites, and the security and safety of their targets, are inviolable and cannot be threatened, stressing that exposing them to any hostile acts or using them in the context of conflicts and disputes represents a dangerous and condemnable escalation.
It called on the Government of the Sudan to respect the sanctity of the holy sites and spare them the risks of escalation, in order to preserve the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region as a whole.
The Government expressed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for the right of the Kingdom to take the measures it deems necessary to protect its security and territorial integrity, safeguard the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and protect the guests of Al-Rahman.
