An armed group affiliated with the Rapid Support Militia assassinated the young leader of the militia, who hails from the Tells area in South Darfur state, (Ali al-Adwani) after it fired a barrage of bullets at him, according to reliable sources.

The sources said that the incident took place inside a tea shop, after the seller provided a cup of tea for aggression, which was objected to by a group of members of the Rapid Support Militia who were present at the place, to spark an argument between them.

A member of the group fired a quantity of ammunition at the attacker, killing him instantly.

According to the sources, al-Adwani was popular among the youth of the Rapid Support Militia, but in recent days he began to conduct what the sources described as "reviews" of his positions, and appeared in a number of videos criticizing the continuation of the war, and calling for peace among the Sudanese.

Sources have linked his recent anti-war stances to his call for peace.
