The Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) announced the joining of a new military force to its ranks, after defecting from the forces of Suleiman Sandal, confirming the support of the force joining the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Joint Force.

The movement said in a statement issued by the media secretary and its spokesman, Dr. Mohammad Zakaria Faragalla, the force is led by Brigadier General Bashir Abkar Abdeslam and includes 15 officers and more than 250 non-commissioned officers and soldiers.

The movement described the move as a qualitative addition to its ranks, which will strengthen efforts to defend the state and support security and stability, pointing out that it has begun to complete the procedures of absorbing the new force and the arrangement of the status of its members.

The movement called on the rest of those it described as "twittered" to review their positions and take sides with the Sudanese state and people, stressing that its doors will remain open to those wishing to join its ranks.
