Setting up a random factory in Omdurman produces fake honey from sawdust.

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority, in coordination with the Police of Trade, Supply and Consumer Protection Investigations, was able to seize a random factory in Omdurman that is secretly managed to produce fake “Jarak” honey.

The Director of the Sudanese Authority for Standardization and Metrology in Omdurman Unit of Khartoum Sector, Mrs. Sulafa Abdel Aziz, revealed that the seizure resulted in the discovery of an unusual cheating method, based on the use of sawdust as a basic material in the manufacture of honey, with the addition of glycerin and flavors in order to imitate it and delude consumers as an original product.

For his part, the Director of Supply Investigation, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al-Zubayr Police, said that the seizure of the factory came after monitoring and field investigations and intelligence that enabled access to the site and the dismantling of the offending activity.

He stressed the continuation of proactive campaigns and strikes in coordination with the regulatory authorities, to pursue illegal business activities and protect markets and consumers from fraud and product manipulation.

He called on citizens to cooperate with the competent authorities and report any irregularities or suspicious commercial activities through the short number (5960).
