The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed that the US sanctions imposed on Sudan are based on political considerations, not on physical or technical evidence proving allegations of the use of chemical weapons.
The ministry said in a statement that the United States did not provide any evidence to support its accusations, and ignored the results of the work of national commissions of inquiry formed in accordance with international frameworks and standards.
For more than a year, the Sudanese government has called through a bilateral mechanism to send American experts to conduct direct field inspections and verify the facts, but the US side did not respond to those calls, and chose to impose unilateral measures outside the legal frameworks stipulated in the Chemical Weapons Convention.
The ministry reiterated Sudan’s full commitment to cooperate with the OPCW in accordance with its regulations and procedures, calling on the international community to reject the politicization of international mechanisms and adhere to the principles of neutrality and justice in dealing with related issues.
