The health authorities in Khartoum have seized a random factory for filling mineral water in the Muqrin area, which works without a license or meeting the health requirements, and is preparing to distribute large quantities of water to markets.

The director of the Department of Environmental Health in the locality, Mohammed Abbas Mohammed Hassan, said that the seizure came after field follow-up and continuous monitoring of the activity of the laboratory, before being raided while working illegally, without obtaining the necessary permits from the competent authorities.

He explained that the investigations revealed that the laboratory filled drinking water without subjecting it to the approved stages of health treatment, which includes sedimentation, purification and disinfection, in addition to carrying out filling operations manually, in clear violation of the health requirements governing this activity.

He added that the authorities found inside the factory large quantities of bottled water and ready for distribution, pointing out that legal procedures have been taken against the owner of the factory and a report has been opened with the Khartoum North Prosecution, while continuing to complete the legal procedures.

He stressed that the Department of Environmental Health will continue its campaigns to combat random activities that threaten the health of citizens, and take the necessary measures to reduce the violating practices that affect public safety and the national economy.
