Lavrov and the African Union Commission discuss the developments of the Sudanese crisis and the security files on the continent

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, discussed with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, during a meeting held today at the headquarters of the Union in Addis Ababa, ways to strengthen joint cooperation and a number of issues related to peace and security in the African continent.

The talks touched on the developments in the Sahel, the Great Lakes and the Horn of Africa, in addition to the latest crises in Sudan, Libya and South Sudan.

At the end of the meeting, Lavrov stressed Russia's continued support for African solutions aimed at settling conflicts, stressing the importance of enabling the countries of the continent to lead efforts to establish peace and enhance security and stability.
