The U.S. Department of the Treasury, through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), announced a new update to the list of specially designated nationals, including the imposition of sanctions on a number of individuals and entities, under Executive Order No. 14098 on Sudan, on charges of links to financing networks and logistical support that contribute to fueling the war in the country.
The list included a number of individuals, including: Alok Chaudhary of India, Jacques Peter Derman GuzmTime.n of Panama, Freddy Alejandro Lopez Ocampo of Colombia, Tariq Hussein Mohamed Madani of the Sudan and Enrique Daniel Palacios Quintanilla of Panama.
The U.S. Treasury said the sanctions also affected a number of entities, including Port Sudan-based Port Engineering Co. Ltd. and India-based SBL Energy Limited, as well as Khartoum-based Target Multiple Activities Co. Ltd.
These entities and individuals are linked to networks suspected of being involved in facilitating supply, finance and trade operations that support parties to the conflict in Sudan, contributing to prolonging the war and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis, the ministry said.
Washington also stressed that this step is part of a broader policy aimed at cracking down on the economic networks associated with the conflict, while calling on all regional and international parties to stop any financial or military support for any of the parties to the war, and to push for an unconditional humanitarian truce that paves the way for a permanent ceasefire.
