Port Sudan – OnePress
Port Sudan’s southern port has welcomed the EUPHORIA, a subsidiary of shipping agent Polaris, in a strategic move that marks the first transhipment trade in a long time. This event reinforces the efforts to restore international confidence in Sudanese seaports, confirming their logistical readiness and their position as a pivotal hub for trade, maritime transport and re-export movement at the regional level.
For his part, the Director General of the Maritime Ports Authority, Engineer Consultant Gilani Mohammed Gilani, considered the return of this activity a vital indicator of the stability of the operational environment of ports and their great ability to attract international transit trade, pointing to the start of container storage operations and redirection from the Port Sudan terminal to prominent regional ports such as Saudi Jeddah and Lattakia Syria, thanks to the continuous government support from the Ministries of Transport and Finance and the dedication of national cadres.
In the same context, the Director of the General Directorate of the Southern Port, Mr. Abdullah Hussein, said that the ship is one of the largest tankers in this area and carries 140 containers, which represents a remarkable operational achievement in the exceptional circumstances of the country. Hussein stressed the escalation of production rates in the port as a result of the linking of shifts and the flow of handling without stopping, revealing the Authority's intention to provide incentives and special advantages to the international shipping lines, which expressed an increasing desire to adopt the Sudanese station.
