Port Sudan – OnePress
Activists on social networking platforms circulated videos and photos documenting the storming of a large dust storm in a number of areas in the state of Kassala in eastern Sudan, in a scene described by citizens as unusual as a result of the high density of dust that covered the horizon and blocked the vision almost completely.
The rolling scenes showed huge clouds of dust creeping towards residential neighborhoods and main roads, amid a noticeable decline in the horizontal visibility, prompting many citizens to stay indoors and close windows and doors to avoid dust leakage.
According to weather observers, the storm was the result of strong wind activity associated with climate fluctuations in large parts of eastern Sudan in recent days, while there have been no official reports of casualties or significant material damage due to the storm.
Citizens called on the competent authorities to issue early warnings during such weather conditions, especially for respiratory patients and drivers of vehicles, in order to maintain public safety and reduce the risks resulting from low visibility and spread of dust.
The concerned authorities continue to follow the developments of the weather situation, at a time when social media are circulating widespread scenes of the storm, which has aroused great interest among the residents of the state and outside.
