The United Nations has warned that the humanitarian situation in Sudan is worsening amid ongoing conflict and increasing challenges linked to lack of funding, insecurity and difficulties in reaching those affected, adding that millions of people still need urgent assistance.
FAO and its humanitarian partners continue to provide food, health and water services in several states, with hundreds of thousands of people benefiting from food, nutrition and cash support programmes in recent weeks.
The United Nations expressed concern over continued drone attacks and tribal violence, citing civilian casualties and damage to critical infrastructure, which are exacerbating the suffering of the population and hampering humanitarian relief operations.
The organization reiterated its call on all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law, protect civilians and civilian facilities, and ensure safe and sustainable humanitarian access, while stressing the need for additional international funding to meet the growing needs in the country.
