A group of international and regional powers, including the United States, the European Union, the African Union, the League of Arab States and the United Nations, have announced their support for a comprehensive Sudanese-led political process to end the country’s conflict and transition to civilian rule.

The final statement of the international consultations held in Addis Ababa stressed that a military solution to the Sudanese crisis is not possible, stressing the need to launch a broad national dialogue involving various political and community forces in the coming period.

The statement called for the formation of a transitional civilian authority within a specified period of time, while warning of any attempts to disrupt the political track, in parallel with calling for a ceasefire and facilitating humanitarian access.

The group also expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan, stressing the priority of protecting civilians and supporting international efforts to end the war and achieve stability.
