The Higher Committee for the Inventory and Control of Foreign Presence in the Northern State continued to implement the voluntary return program for refugees and irregular residents, as part of efforts to regulate the foreign presence and strengthen organized legal procedures.

During its periodic meeting, chaired by the Secretary-General of the Government in charge, Hassan Adam Hassan, the Committee said that it relies on the classification and careful review of the files of the targets, in addition to benefiting from previous experiences in a number of states, to ensure the tightening of administrative and security controls.

In the context, the Committee’s Rapporteur Youssef Mohamed Youssef revealed that 851 foreigners have been deported so far in the localities of Gould and Al-Barqiq, with the continuation of operations in the locality of Dongola, and the imminent completion of logistical arrangements in the locality of Al-Dabbah in preparation for the launch of similar campaigns.

He pointed to coordination with the relevant international organizations to ensure the implementation of deportations in accordance with humanitarian standards, while preserving the dignity of the targets, pointing to the monitoring of cases of infiltration of some of the deportees, which requires strengthening monitoring and follow-up.

At the end of its meeting, the committee stressed the importance of the role of citizens and employers in supporting seizure efforts by reporting any illegal foreign presence inside farms and community mining areas.
