Sudan’s Ambassador to Japan, Rih Haidoub, discussed with CEO of Taiqi Sangyo Corporation of Japan, Sushiro Yasuhara, opportunities to enhance cooperation in agricultural drying projects and support livelihoods in Sudan.

During a meeting at the embassy in Tokyo, Yasuhara reviewed the company’s experience in Sudan as part of a project supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and contributed to supporting small and medium-sized projects in Kassala and Nile states by providing equipment to dry vegetables, fruits and agricultural products.

He pointed to the increasing demand for these devices in Sudan, pointing out that the company recently shipped a number of them to the northern state.

For his part, the Sudanese ambassador praised the results of the project, stressing its compatibility with efforts to reduce poverty and provide employment opportunities for women and youth, especially in war-affected areas.

The two sides agreed to prepare a proposal for a new project in Sudan, to be submitted to international and regional donors for consideration.
