Suakin – OnePress
Sudanese authorities on Sunday restarted an e-passport service in the Red Sea state of Suakin, in a move aimed at expanding police services and facilitating citizens’ access to official documents near their areas of residence.
The service was resumed at the passport and civil registry complex in Swakin in the presence of officials from the passport and civil registry departments and the police, as well as representatives of the local community.
The Passport Department affirmed its commitment to provide services in accordance with the approved technical standards, while the Civil Registry Department stressed the importance of facilitating the procedures of obtaining the national number and identity card as one of the basic requirements for obtaining the passport.
Local community representatives welcomed the move, saying it would help reduce the burden of travelling to Port Sudan to process passports and identity documents.
