The Democratic Bloc announced the boycott of the meetings of the five-party mechanism held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, stressing its rejection of any direct or indirect recognition of the Rapid Support Forces or what it called the "parallel government."

A statement issued by the Office of the Chairman of the Democratic Bloc, Jaafar Al-Mirghani, said that the decision not to participate came after consultations and consensus within the coalition institutions, within the framework of its position on the current political developments.

The bloc affirmed its adherence to what it considered as the basic national and political constants, noting that its various components may vary in some political estimates, but it remains committed to the general positions agreed within the coalition.

The situation comes at a time when Addis Ababa is witnessing political consultations between Sudanese parties and representatives of regional and international bodies, in an effort to revive the political process and search for a way out of the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
