A Sudanese weather monitor predicted a significant rise in temperatures in large areas of the country in the coming days, coinciding with the chances of rain in a number of states in central and southeastern Sudan.
Air traffic controller Munther Ahmed al-Hajj said a heat wave was starting to affect northern states, the Nile River, Khartoum and Kassala, with temperatures expected to rise in most of the north and west of the country, while the rise is less severe in eastern states.
The dusty northern wind will be active in parts of northern, central and western Sudan, while southern states and some central areas are experiencing southern wind activity, he said.
It is expected that hot weather will prevail during daylight hours and warm at night and in the morning in most parts of the country, including the capital Khartoum and the states of Darfur and Kordofan.
At the same time, light to medium rainfall was forecast for parts of Blue Nile, Sennar, Jazira, Gedaref and White Nile states, with rain returning to areas of central Jazira state.
Al-Hajj pointed out that the weather bulletins are based on data and estimates that can be changed, calling for dealing with them as indicative indicators that require taking the necessary precautions.
