New testimonies from survivors of attacks in El Fasher, North Darfur state, have revealed shocking scenes of violence and violations against civilians during military operations in the city over the past months.
Several survivors cited accounts of civilians being killed, tortured and looted as they tried to flee areas of clashes, while witnesses described the humanitarian situation as "catastrophic" with basic services cut off and food and medicine scarce.
Survivors said thousands of families had been forced to flee on foot for long distances to escape the fighting, while many faced increased risks during displacement journeys due to lack of water, food and health care.
El Fasher is the last major city in the Darfur region to remain outside the control of the RSF, making it the focus of intensive military operations over the past period.
The testimonies come at a time of mounting international warnings of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan, where UN organizations confirm that millions of civilians are in need of urgent assistance as the war continues and displacement expands.
Rights groups have called for independent investigations into alleged abuses and accountability, while the United Nations has renewed its call to protect civilians and ensure humanitarian access to affected areas.
