The Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism in Sudan announced the extension of the registration period for websites, media platforms and electronic newspapers for an additional two weeks, to expire on June 15, as part of its efforts to regulate the electronic media sector and complete legal procedures for media institutions.

The ministry said in a press circular issued on Sunday that the approved registration forms have become available at the ministry's headquarters, calling on institutions and media platforms to speed up the completion of their data and registration procedures within the deadline.

She explained that the decision to extend came in coordination with the National Council for Press and Publications, after the completion of the design of the registration form for electronic media sites and platforms.

The ministry stressed that the registration process aims to build a modern and comprehensive database of media institutions, strengthen institutional coordination, support professional development and establish the principles of professionalism and responsibility in media work.

She called on all owners of websites, media platforms and electronic newspapers to reconcile their legal status before the end of the new deadline, stressing that the completion of registration procedures and legal permits is a commitment in accordance with the laws and regulations governing media work.

The ministry warned that institutions and platforms that do not complete the required registration procedures by June 15 will face legal procedures in coordination with the competent authorities, as part of the state's efforts to regulate the electronic media sector and reduce uncontrolled practices.

The ministry stressed its continued technical and procedural support to media organizations, which ensures the implementation of the registration process in an organized manner and contributes to the development of the electronic media sector in the country.
