The Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), led by Minister of Finance Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, welcomed the call by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council to launch a comprehensive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, describing it as an important step towards building a national consensus leading to a just and sustainable peace.
The Movement said in a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Adha that the comprehensive national dialogue represents the best path to address national issues and consolidate the foundations of the state based on justice, equal citizenship and true partnership among all Sudanese.
It stressed that any serious political process should be based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Sudan and the preservation of the right of its people to manage their national affairs away from any external dictates or interference.
Regarding humanitarian efforts, the Movement stressed that any humanitarian truce must be based on the terms of reference agreed upon in the Jeddah Declaration, leading to the evacuation of cities from military manifestations and the cantonment of the Rapid Support Forces outside residential areas, in order to alleviate the suffering of civilians and create an atmosphere for peace and stability efforts.
