Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza said that the state authorities are working to hand over alternative sites to eligible citizens affected by the removal of random and emergency housing before the fall season, as part of efforts to address the housing file and restore stability to the population.
He added that the government pays special attention to this file as part of broader plans to provide housing and basic services, referring to the project to build one million housing units under the auspices of the central government.
Hamza's comments came during his participation in the locality of Jabal Awal Eid al-Adha prayer, where he reviewed the features of the state program for reconstruction and improvement of services in the capital after the damage caused by the war.
He explained that the service plan includes enhancing the supply of drinking water by relying on Nile water as a main source, using wells as backup sources, as well as expanding the use of solar energy, rehabilitating health centers, maintaining roads and organizing markets.
He pointed out that Khartoum state has entered the stage of reconstruction and restoration of services, after a period that witnessed a decline in development and a large displacement of the population as a result of the war.
He also praised the role played by citizens during the conflict, especially community-based initiatives for food and humanitarian assistance, calling for enhanced cooperation between the community and local authorities to support recovery and stabilization efforts.
Hamza stressed the importance of investing the occasion of Eid al-Adha in promoting the values of compassion and social solidarity and consolidating community peace, expressing his hope that the country will enjoy security and stability during the next phase.
