The Sudan Doctors Network has launched an urgent humanitarian appeal calling on child mental health professionals and volunteers to provide tele-psychiatric support and counselling services to children who have lost their bond in care homes, in light of the escalating humanitarian needs resulting from the war and the ongoing crisis in the country.
In a statement, the network said that children living in care homes face worsening psychological effects as a result of the repercussions of the conflict and complex humanitarian conditions, stressing that these conditions require urgent intervention from specialized cadres to help alleviate the severity of psychological trauma and enhance the psychological stability of children.
The initiative aims to provide continuous psychological support to the most affected children through voluntary contributions by specialists in the fields of psychological support and mental health of children.
The Network called on those wishing to participate to communicate through its official platforms to contribute to humanitarian efforts, stressing the importance of combining professional and community initiatives to protect war-affected children and provide them with the necessary psychological care.
