A group of emergency lawyers accused the Rapid Support Forces of carrying out a large-scale arrest campaign against dozens of civilians in the city of Gbeish in West Kordofan state, following the attack on the city market by a drone on May 19.
The group said in a statement that the detainees include Al-Fatih citizens Abdul Rahman Abdullah and Da’allah and Al-Sadiq Mohammed Saleh Abdullah and Da’allah, who are facing charges from the Rapid Support Forces related to passing coordinates and communications with the Sudanese army.
The statement added that there are growing concerns about the safety of Abdul Rahman, pointing out that he was subjected to a previous attack by the Rapid Support Forces following their control of the city in August 2024, which raises concerns about his health situation in light of his continued detention and the lack of disclosure of his whereabouts.
The group described the arrests as part of “continuous violations” against civilians in areas under the control of the Rapid Support Forces, stressing that the detentions are carried out without legal procedures and are accompanied by practices including enforced disappearance and ill-treatment inside detention centers.
The group called on the Rapid Support Forces to immediately reveal the fate of all detainees, enable their families to communicate with them, and ensure their safety, as well as the release of arbitrarily detained civilians and stop the arrest campaigns against the civilian population.
