The Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, issued an urgent regulatory package for the development and organization of Sabrin market in Karary locality, during a field tour conducted with the Executive Director of the local Omar Mohammed Ahmed Al-Naim, to monitor the movement of markets and the flow of services before Eid Al-Adha.
The visit comes in light of the increasing voluntary return of residents to the region, and the accompanying rise in commercial activity and demand for services, according to state authorities.
The governor directed local authorities to tighten security measures within and around the market, regulate commercial activities to reduce congestion and traffic jams, as well as remove negative phenomena and improve the business environment.
The owners of the shops being built as part of the third phase of the market development plan were also obliged to quickly complete the works and open the shops to increase the capacity, while enhancing coordination between the official authorities and the competent committees to make the seasonal arrangements successful.
On the service side, the governor stressed the need to improve basic services and organize public transport according to the specified locations, and prevent violations on the main roads, as well as abide by engineering and health requirements within the market.
He also called for the intensification of cleaning campaigns and the removal of waste periodically, to maintain food safety and improve the general appearance of the market, as it is one of the vital markets in the locality of Karary.
The governor of Khartoum concluded his tour by visiting the site of the fire, which broke out last Thursday, inside one of the shopping malls in the market, and resulted in the damage of six shops, including a bakery, where he stood on the size of the damage, and listened to a report from the competent authorities on the causes of the fire and the measures taken to contain the fire and prevent its spread.
