According to Fox News, Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, resigned from her post within the administration of President Donald Trump, in a sudden move that shook the corridors of the American intelligence community.
Gabbard officially informed President Trump of her decision, explaining in the resignation letter that the reason was due to family and health conditions related to her husband, who was diagnosed with a rare disease of bone cancer. June 30, 2026 is expected to be her last day in office.
Gabbard took over as director of national intelligence in February 2025, becoming the first woman of Pacific descent and the first ex-combatant to hold the sensitive position responsible for overseeing 18 U.S. intelligence agencies.
The resignation comes at a time when US national security institutions are undergoing rapid changes, especially after resignations and shifts within the counter-terrorism and intelligence services linked to the file of the war with Iran.
