Sudan’s Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications announced the launch of the Sudapass National Digital Identity Project (SudaPass), in a move described as a strategy to strengthen digital infrastructure and establish confidence in e-services within the country.
The project was launched through the Sudanese Authority for Cybersecurity and the National Authority for Electronic Authentication, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior represented by the Civil Registry, as part of a government direction to develop the digital services system.
Sudapas aims to enable citizens to safely access government and private services, conduct electronic transactions and digital signatures, which will simplify procedures, raise performance efficiency and promote the transition to a more advanced digital economy.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and Telecommunications confirmed that the project is one of the pillars of digital transformation in Sudan, and its impact extends to multiple sectors including banking, telecommunications, education, health and government services, by providing a unified digital identity based on advanced cybersecurity standards.
The initiative is part of a broader vision to build a reliable digital environment, expand access to services, and enhance Sudan’s readiness to keep pace with global developments in the digital economy and new technologies.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by government officials, diplomats, international partners, private sector representatives and experts, in a sign of the growing interest in developing the national digital infrastructure and supporting the country’s digital transformation path.
