Defections expected in the ranks of the militia "Rapid Support"

Sudanese sources informed of new defections in the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces, stressing that the next few days may see the exit of prominent field commanders from the organization.

The sources explained that the field commanders who intend to defect represent an influential military and tribal weight, as they belong to the tribes of Rifa’i, Hawazmeh and Misseriya. The sources also pointed out that these leaders focus their field activity in strategic areas including the states of Southern and Western Kordofan, in addition to the Blue Nile region.

This development comes at a time when the military map is witnessing rapid movements, amid anticipation of the impact these defections may have on the balance of power in the field in those areas.
