Jebel Marra – OnePress

The official spokesman of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Mohamed Al-Nair, announced an outbreak of the monkey pox virus in a number of areas of Jebel Marra, including Soni, Jawa and Derry in the locality of Jebel Marra, with more than 200 confirmed cases, mostly among women and children.

Al-Nair warned of the seriousness of the health situation in the region, pointing out that the spread of the disease could threaten the lives of millions of people in the affected areas, in light of poor medical possibilities and the deterioration of basic health services.

In an urgent appeal, Al-Nair called on humanitarian organizations and international bodies to intervene quickly to provide the necessary medicines and medical supplies and contain the accelerating outbreak of the disease.

He stressed that the affected areas suffer from a severe shortage of health services, which exacerbates the risk of the spread of infection and limits the ability of local staff to respond effectively.
