Dongola – OnePress
The Minister of State at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare and member of the National Mechanism for the Protection of Civilians, Salimi Ishaq, warned that there is a gap in the size of the humanitarian response to the displaced people of Darfur and Kordofan states residing in the accommodation center east of Dongola in the northern state.
The government official pointed out that the current levels of external support do not keep pace with the increasing numbers of displaced people, which requires urgent intervention to strengthen humanitarian supplies in light of the continued influx of displaced families to the region.
In the same context, the local authorities in Dongola reported that the shelter has so far received 117 displaced families from conflict areas in Darfur and Kordofan, explaining that efforts are continuing to secure basic needs for food, shelter and basic services.
The local government confirmed that it is working in coordination with government agencies and humanitarian organizations working in the field of relief, in order to fill the existing shortage and ensure a minimum of humanitarian stability within the center, in light of the increasing pressure on available resources.
