INTERPOL has announced the success of a large-scale regional anti-cybercrime operation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, known as RAMZ, which resulted in the identification of nearly 4,000 victims and the arrest of 201 suspects in 13 participating countries.

According to the international organization, the operation targeted electronic fraud networks and technical structures used in the implementation of cybercrime, with a focus on tracking those involved in operations that caused significant financial losses to victims in several countries.

Interpol confirmed that the campaign also resulted in the seizure of about 50 servers suspected of being used to manage fraudulent activities and cyber intrusions, as well as the implementation of coordination and exchange of thousands of intelligence information between the security agencies and the competent authorities of the participating countries.

The operation comes in light of the escalating threats associated with cross-border cybercrime, and the expansion of digital fraud networks targeting individuals and organizations through advanced technical means.

Cybersecurity specialists believe that such joint operations reflect growing international cooperation in the face of digital crimes, especially with the increasing reliance of criminal networks on infrastructure distributed across several countries to avoid prosecution.
