An investigative report by Reuters, citing multiple sources, revealed that the Rapid Support Forces released Fatih Commander Abdullah Idris, known as Abu Lulu, who was subject to UN sanctions over charges of murder documented by surveillance cameras earlier in Sudan.
Nine separate sources confirmed to the agency that Rapid Support had secretly released Abu Lulu in order to boost the morale of its fighters on the ground. In the same context, Reuters quoted two officers; One in the Sudanese army intelligence and the other in the Rapid Support Forces, confirmed the vision of Abu Lulu participating on the ground in the military operations in the battles of Kordofan last March, while 13 other sources, including commanders in the army and rapid support and a relative of Abu Lulu, said that they were closely aware of the decision to release him.
The RSF, on the other hand, flatly denied the news, calling information about his release “false reports.”
For his part, the spokesman for the government of “Establishment” Ahmed Taqaddan, that the conversations about the release of “Abu Lulu” bare health and completely false, stressing that the concerned and others will be presented to a special trial and held accountable against the backdrop of accusations against them of involvement in violence during the events in the city of El-Fasher.
