The General Meteorological Authority issued a red alert, warning of a severe heat wave that will hit the northern states, the Nile River and the Red Sea, amid expectations of a significant rise in temperatures in the coming hours.

The Authority called on citizens to avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak periods, and to drink water and fluids, especially the elderly, children and people with chronic diseases, in order to maintain their health.

Meteorology also appealed to the competent authorities to take the necessary preventive measures, with expectations of the continuation of hot and dry weather in a number of areas affected by the wave.

Several Sudanese cities are witnessing a significant rise in temperatures these days, in conjunction with increasing warnings of the dangers of heat stress and heat stroke, especially in desert and coastal areas.
