The Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, issued immediate instructions to re-establish the center of the capital at the service and security levels, in order to keep pace with the return of citizens and business owners to their areas.
The directives came during an extensive field tour that included a number of neighborhoods in central Khartoum, including Khartoum (2), Khartoum (3), the Industrial Zone, the Family Park, Eshraqa Al-Tijani Yousef Bashir, and the Kenoun Hotel, with the participation of executive and security leaders and service committees.
On the ground, the governor assessed the challenges facing the returning population, listening to demands for water, electricity, sanitation, environmental sanitation and education services, calling for speeding up the removal of waste and rubble accumulations, intensifying campaigns to combat disease vectors, and opening rainwater drains urgently in preparation for the autumn season.
The directives also included the development of urgent technical treatments for the sewage plant in Khartoum market, in order to end the deteriorating environmental conditions that affect citizens and traders.
On the security and organizational side, the governor stressed the strengthening of the police presence and the extension of the prestige of the state, and activating the foundations to combat negative phenomena and fragmentation, especially in markets and densely populated areas, in addition to the removal of encroachments on schools and public institutions, and the organization of markets and the removal of slums that hinder movement and distort the urban appearance.
During the tour, the Governor of Khartoum praised the efforts of the private sector in revitalizing the economic movement and resuming commercial and hotel activities, stressing that the state government puts the restoration of services and rehabilitation of infrastructure as a top priority, in coordination with the competent authorities, including removing the remnants of war and creating an attractive environment for investment.
Central Khartoum, which is the commercial heart of the capital, is witnessing an upward movement as part of a government plan to rehabilitate public facilities, parks and hotels, as part of wider efforts to gradually restore urban activity and normalize life.
