Omdurman – OnePress
The popular market in the city of Omdurman received the largest contingent of Sudanese returning voluntarily from Egypt, where more than two thousand citizens arrived on 50 buses, as part of the voluntary return programs for Sudanese affected by the conflict.
The reception process witnessed a large presence of people and traders, amid an atmosphere characterized by popular interaction and chants in support of national unity, while the returnees expressed their happiness to return to the country after years of displacement, praising the facilities provided by the "Hope Committee for Voluntary Return" to secure their arrival in the capital.
According to current statistics, the number of Sudanese who have returned voluntarily from Egypt is about 426,000, out of a total of about 1.5 million Sudanese who have sought refuge in Egypt since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan.
The increase in the number of returnees comes amid growing hopes for improved security and service conditions, paving the way for more displaced people and refugees to return to their areas of origin.
