Port Sudan – OnePress
Port Sudan International Airport received 166 Sudanese citizens in the fourth wave of voluntary returns from Libya, through African Airlines flights, as part of the voluntary return program for Sudanese abroad.
The Director of the Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Onur Ahmed, said that the procedures for receiving and entering the returnees have been smoothly, in preparation for their transfer to the states of Khartoum and Al-Jazeera, noting that the program is running on a schedule of seven flights, the fifth of which is expected to arrive on Sunday.
He added that the Libyan government has provided facilities and arrangements that contributed to the implementation of flights, praising the measures taken by the Port Sudan airport administration to accelerate reception operations despite the intensity of air traffic associated with the Hajj season.
Ambassador Onur revealed arrangements to organize additional return trips through the sea route from Tripoli after the Eid al-Adha holiday, in order to accommodate the rest of those wishing to return to Sudan.
For her part, the representative of the International Alliance Hana Youssef said that the organization began to provide medical and social services to returnees upon arrival, in coordination with the Supreme Committee for Voluntary Return and international organizations, to ensure an appropriate and safe reception environment.
Speaking on behalf of the returnees, Mohammed Abdullah expressed his thanks for the efforts exerted by the Sudanese embassy in Tripoli and the organizers of the return program, stressing that the facilities provided contributed to the completion of the trip and the arrival of the returnees safely to the country.
