The governor of the northern state, Lieutenant General Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid Ibrahim, issued a new emergency order to cancel the decision to ban the transfer of wheat crop out of the state, as part of the organization of the movement of trading strategic crops and encourage commercial activity according to official controls.
Emergency Order No. 5 of 2026 allowed wheat shipments to leave the state, subject to prior permission from the state Ministry of Production and Economic Resources.
The authorities said that the new measures aim to strengthen control over the movement of the crop and control distribution and transport operations, as well as enable the competent authorities to follow up the quantities issued and maintain statistical data related to production and trade.
Wheat is one of the main strategic crops in the northern state, which is one of the most prominent areas of agricultural production in Sudan.
