Port Sudan – OnePress
Prominent Rapid Support Forces (RSF) defector Ali Rizkallah, known as the “Safna”, arrived in Khartoum days after he officially announced his defection from the RSF and his alignment with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), a remarkable development that reflects the escalating rift within the field command structure for rapid support.
Al-Safna announced last week his exit from the ranks of the rapid support through recordings and statements in circulation, during which he confirmed his joining the Sudanese army, amid wide interaction within the military, political and media circles.
. The safna sparked a great controversy after an audio recording in which he spoke about what he described as “serious details” related to the circle close to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, referring to the nature of decision management within the forces and the internal relations between field commanders and centers of influence.
The Savna defection is part of a series of defections witnessed by the Rapid Support Forces during the recent period, including field commanders and prominent elements, including Al-Nour Dome, in addition to Commander Abu Aqil Kickel, who had announced his bias to the armed forces earlier, in a move considered at the time as one of the most prominent shifts within the map of the conflict.
Observers believe that the increasing frequency of defections within the rapid support reflects mounting pressures on the command and organizational structure of the forces, especially with the continuation of military operations and shifting the balance of control in a number of axes.
