The Sudanese Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism said that the images circulating on some digital platforms about the visit of the Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation to the Vatican and the United Kingdom are “fabricated and unfounded,” stressing that the visit has successfully achieved its diplomatic and cultural goals.
The ministry said in a press statement that the images were produced using artificial intelligence techniques, noting that one of the images shows the former pope, not the current pope, along with the Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism.
The ministry stressed that the digital disinformation campaigns will not affect the results of the visit or reduce its importance, calling for accuracy and reliance on official sources in the circulation of information.
The statement stressed that Sudan is continuing to strengthen its external presence and strengthen its international relations to serve its political and cultural interests and reflect a positive image of the country in international forums.
