Local reports say that a number of Sudanese refugees have died in the camps of “Qaqa” and “Frushna” in eastern Chad, following the outbreak of mysterious diets similar to meningitis, amid fears of widespread injuries inside the camps crowded with displaced people.

Refugees told local media that education authorities at the Gaga camp had begun implementing precautionary measures to curb the spread of infection among students, amid overcrowding in classrooms and rising concern about the outbreak.

In a separate development, three fires have broken out in Adri camp in recent days, destroying a number of homes and the loss of basic property by refugee families, exacerbating the dire humanitarian situation for Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad.
