Central Darfur – OnePress
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced the provision of urgent relief assistance to about 1,000 displaced families in the “Gulu” camp in the state of Central Darfur in western Sudan, following a new wave of displacement resulting from the deteriorating security conditions in the region.
The UNHCR said in a statement posted on its official platforms that the aid included basic materials including plastic waxes, blankets, kitchen utensils, mosquito nets and solar-powered lamps to support the affected families and help them cope with the difficult humanitarian conditions inside the camp.
UNHCR stressed that the relief intervention aims to provide immediate protection and assistance to the displaced people, in light of the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region and the continued movement of displaced people from conflict areas.
She stressed the importance of continued humanitarian support and aid flows to meet the growing needs of civilians fleeing the violence.
