Sudanese military sources said on Saturday that six prominent field commanders in the ranks of the Rapid Support Militia surrendered and joined the Sudanese Armed Forces, in a new development within the course of increasing defections within the ranks of the militia.

The sources said that the dissident leaders are descended from the sons of “Mahad – Umm Saif”, and led by Lieutenant Colonel Ismail Ali Abdul Rahman Abdullah, known as “Abu Rahaf”, the leader of the group (22), noting that they announced their “complete surrender” and aligned with the Sudanese army.

According to the sources, the move came after contacts and field arrangements in recent days, without revealing the location where the surrender took place or the number of elements accompanying the six leaders.

This development comes at a time of continued confrontations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia in several areas of the country, amid signs of increasing internal divisions within the militia ranks.
