The area of Kauda in South Kordofan state is witnessing heightened security tensions, amid reports of deaths and injuries in tribal confrontations in the region during the past hours, at a time when the SPLM-N announced the rebellion of a group of officers of its People’s Army.
According to local sources, the tribal clashes erupted against the backdrop of accumulated internal tensions, which led to a state of security tension and anxiety among the population, in conjunction with military movements within the areas controlled by the Popular Movement.
In a remarkable development, the SPLM-N confirmed the existence of a rebellion within the ranks of the People’s Army, noting that a group of officers deviated from the chain of command, without revealing additional details about the size of the rebellion or its military repercussions.
These developments come in light of the complex situation in the areas of South Kordofan, amid fears of a widening of security and tribal tensions in the coming period.
