The head of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said that only the Sudanese people have the right to decide the fate of those returning from fighting alongside the Rapid Support Militia, whether through accountability or amnesty, vowing to open the door to anyone who chooses to “put arms and inject blood.”

Al-Burhan’s remarks came during a field visit on Friday to the Droshaab area in North Khartoum’s Bahri district to see the living conditions and security in the area, state media reported.

Al-Burhan performed Friday prayers at the area's mosque amid a popular presence, before praising what he described as the "national role" played by the residents of Droshaab and their participation in the popular resistance in support of the army.

He said that what he called the “attempts of traitors and wage earners to kidnap the state” have failed against the “will of the Sudanese,” stressing that anyone who is convinced of the need to end the fighting will find “the way to return home.”
