Amjad Farid al-Tayyeb, adviser to the head of Sudan’s sovereign council for political affairs and foreign relations, said that the RSF represents the “worst legacy” left by the former Muslim Brotherhood regime in Sudan, describing it as a “fascist and criminal” armed formation that threatens the state and society.

In a post on X, Farid explained that the attempts of the Rapid Support Forces to justify their practices by referring to the events of the past are nothing more than “an attempt to escape from the current political reality,” as he put it, considering that what is happening is a direct result of the accumulations of the Islamist regime that was overthrown in April 2019.

He added that what he described as “treason” cannot be treated as a political dispute, but rather as “direct involvement in the blood of the Sudanese,” noting that the ongoing war in the country reflects one of the most dangerous outcomes of the 1989 regime.

The political adviser accused the Rapid Support Forces of having emerged from the "same security and political structure" formed during the previous regime, pointing to what he said were ideological ties and internal and external alliances that contribute to the continuation of the conflict.

He also criticized what he described as attempts by some international and regional parties to provide “misleading” narratives about the nature of the conflict in Sudan, pointing out that they are trying to separate the criticism of Islamists from supporting “rebel forces” that have arisen in their context.

Farid concluded by stressing that the current conflict is a “battle for existence” for Sudan, saying that it is a battle for the state, human dignity and the right of citizens to a safe life, away from violence and violations.
