Sudanese authorities have announced the resumption of work at Khartoum International Airport and the gradual return of flights, in a move that reflects the government's efforts to restore vital infrastructure after a period of suspension linked to recent security developments.

Prime Minister Kamel Idriss received a briefing from officials of the Civil Aviation Authority and the Khartoum airport administration on the readiness of the airport and the resumption of work there “in a normal and fully efficient manner”, including the reception of domestic and international flights, the prime minister said.

The announcement came after Sudan Airways confirmed the resumption of flights to Khartoum Airport from Saturday, after a temporary halt following the attack on the airport during the past period.

The airline confirmed that the decision to resume flights comes within the framework of continuing the services of the national carrier and supporting air traffic, in addition to reconnecting the Sudanese capital to domestic and foreign destinations despite the challenges faced by the aviation sector in the country.
