Omdurman – OnePress

Authorities in Khartoum state announced the implementation of a large-scale security campaign last week, which resulted in the arrest of 1,771 defendants and the seizure of hundreds of electrical devices and contraband, as part of heightened security measures to confront crime and illegal activities in the Sudanese capital.

According to the criminal report reviewed by the Khartoum State Security Committee during its periodic meeting chaired by Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza, the security services were able to dismantle a criminal cell specialized in forgeries and fraud through the Bankak banking application, in one of the most prominent cases related to cybercrime during the recent period.

The report pointed out that the Joint Security Cell carried out 45 field operations that resulted in the arrest of 80 suspects and the seizure of quantities of contraband supplies, while the military intelligence in the Bahri military region announced the implementation of separate operations that led to large seizures of narcotic substances.

In a related context, the Security Committee discussed the repercussions of the drone attacks, which it said were launched from Ethiopian territory, stressing the adoption of urgent security measures to strengthen protection and response on the ground.

Authorities also announced the formation of a legal team to deal with random housing violations, pointing to the stability of the currency exchange process in the state, while warning citizens of the risks of fires after recording 33 fire incidents in one week.

The committee praised the low rates of traffic reports in conjunction with the activities of the Arab Traffic Week, in addition to what it described as the popular response to security and service initiatives in Omdurman.
